Personal Overview

Dr. Sloman joined the faculty at the Florida Institute of Technology’s Scott Center for Autism Treatment in 2018. She previously served as a Clinical Associate Professor at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and Associate Director of Behavioral and Research Services at the Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center. She has worked with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) since 2000. She earned a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Florida in 2008. She has authored several research articles, presented at state and national conferences, and co-authored several chapters on best practices for individuals with ASD. 

Dr. Sloman grew up in Land O' Lakes, FL and attended the University of Florida. She resides in Indialantic, FL with her husband, Glenn, son, Sam, and dogs Maisy and Molly.

Professional Experience

In addition to her academic and clinical roles at Rutgers University and Florida Tech, Dr. Sloman has served as a consultant to school districts to conduct functional assessments for students who engage in problem behavior as well as provide recommendations on curricular and behavioral supports. She has conducted various workshops and trainings on functional assessment, function-based treatment, data-based decision making, and ethical guidelines for parents, teachers, and professionals. 

Dr. Sloman currently serves as guest reviewer for the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavioral Interventions, Behavior Analysis and Practice, Journal of Autism and Developmental Disabilities, and Journal of Behavioral Education.

Dr. Sloman’s research interests include best practices for treating individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This includes assessment and treatment of problem behavior including stereotypy, individualized skill assessments, and  generalization of treatment effects.
